The Basingstoke Tappers was founded by Tracey Kinchenton, who trained with The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) for eleven years before embarking on a career as a Professional Dancer and Choreographer. Tracey has taught professional dancers, celebrities and amateurs worldwide and gained a wealth of experience in many aspects both with children and adults.

After a showbiz apprenticeship at the seaside holiday camps, at 18 Tracey left for a year�s cruising working as a dancer in the Bahamas. At 21 Tracey started her own business working in a dance group travelling the world. As well as Europe and the Middle East the dance group on tour visited some unusual and sometimes dangerous places entertaining The British Troops in The Falklands, Belize, Northern Ireland, Cyprus, Germany, Benbecular & Bosnia. By the age of 23 Tracey had three dance groups working worldwide. Performances at home were often supporting today's actors that were yesterday's stand up comedians�Shane Ritchie, Bradley Walsh, Les Dennis, Little and Large, Jim Davidson, Paul Daniels and many more.

Following a glittering career on stage Tracey moved back to Hampshire to start a family bringing her showbiz influences here to Basingstoke. The Basingstoke Tappers were a temporary idea�.the rest is history!!!

Technical tap - The ISTD Gold Star Tap Title is awarded annually to one dancer in the country following a lengthy qualifying process. Winning this prestigious award confirms the expert tuition given in the field of Tap by Tracey Kinchenton, who teaches all of her classes personally.

32 years in show business at spectacular events worldwide could not have benefited Tracey more and provided the skill set to manage any event or throw a great party! Weddings, Themed Parties ,Corporate Events & Special Occasions can be organised for any budget.

Keeping it Live... Male and female singers are regularly booked for our functions with any sized band from 17 piece Big Band down to solo pianist.
Children's Parties... All ages and themes are catered for. Hall hire and catering is also available.

Schools

Dance is the new phenomenon. A great subject to have in schools, however, as a specialist subject it is an advantage to use a professional choreographer. As an experienced choreographer, fresh new ideas for school projects and curriculum make for stimulating and motivated lessons. From individual technical classes to large scale performing arts productions the sky�s the limit!! Armed with props, costumes and music, work in schools can be on a term or weekly basis covering PPA time, a day or half day workshop or as a short notice supply teacher. All rates are extremely good value for the tightened school budget.

All children are included. There is always a method of connection with those who are reluctant with patience, understanding and positive communication. Technical tap dancing, (tap shoes not required), has proven to be very popular, especially with the boys. A rhythmic understanding is gained using hands and feet together with props and music. Jazz Dance covers all genres of music appealing to all school aged children from the Hip Hop of the charts to the Toe Tapping Big Band Swing.

Recording a backing track to dance to is a favourite with the singers amongst the pupils, easily achieved with the PAT tested equipment that can be brought in to the school. With no hiring fee required, this makes for an added quality to any performance.

Performing Arts Holiday Clubs

A fun packed day for the children in the school holidays, themed to suit the season and accommodate the great British weather!!

Whether you�re looking for childcare while at work or an inexpensive Activity Day for the kids, the school holiday � Dance Yourself Fit Days� are fantastic value for money for boys and girls of all ages. Dance classes, Film making, CD Recording, Arts & Crafts Fashion Show, Beauty Salon and much much more are crammed in to a non stop whirlwind of a day.

Drop them off with a packed lunch or give us an order for the McDonalds take out run and six hours later collect! An early drop off by arrangement for work commitments can be accommodated.
